“Walking in the Calling,
Held by a Faithful God”
Several years ago, God spoke to my heart about Asia, and very specifically about South Korea. Although this calling filled me with awe, it also brought many questions. I didn’t fully understand how it would happen or why, but I chose to take a step in obedience, trusting His voice.
Today, I can say that my arrival in South Korea is the result of that obedience.
During this time as a volunteer at the University of the Nations, I have gone through processes that have challenged my faith, but have also deeply revealed God’s faithfulness. One of the greatest challenges has been the language. At many moments, it felt like a barrier, like a limitation… but God, in His grace, has shown that He is not limited by what seems impossible to us.
Even in the midst of that difficulty, He has made a way. Especially through my service teaching Spanish, I have witnessed something supernatural: connection with my students. Despite the language differences, we have been able to understand each other, communicate, and build close relationships. Each class has become living evidence that when God calls, He also sustains.
During my time here, I also went through one of the most difficult moments of my life: the loss of a close family member. Being far from home in the middle of that pain was a deep challenge for my heart. There were days of sadness, silence, and questions… yet even there, God was faithful.
Through the community at the University of the Nations, I received comfort, love, and support. I was embraced in a moment when I needed it the most, and I was able to clearly see how God answers the prayers through people. I was never alone.
I have also seen His provision in a constant way. In my finances, God has moved in people’s hearts to support this calling and allow me to continue serving here. Every provision has been a reminder that I am not walking this journey alone, but with a God who takes care of every detail.
Currently, I serve in the operations department, the planning department, and teaching, and through these services, God has not only worked through me, but also in me. He has transformed my perspective on limitations and cultural differences, and surprisingly, He has placed in my heart a love for teaching that I did not have before.
Today I understand that when God calls, He doesn’t just take to a place, He also shapes the heart during the process.
My story here is not only about arriving in South Korea, but about learning to trust, to depend, and to see God’s hand in every detail even in the most difficult ones.
I know that my story is still being written, and my time here has only confirmed that God holds great and new plans for my future in Korea. This season has not been the end, but rather the beginning of something deeper an unfolding of His purpose in ways I am still learning to understand. With every step, I am being reminded that His plans are always greater than my own, and that what He has started, He will faithfully complete.
“Faithful is He who calls you, and He will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
