Return to the Original

Hello, my name is Noh Hyung-Moon, and from the fourth quarter of 2025,
I have been entrusted to lead the Foundations for Counseling Ministry (FCM) school.
As our school is being renewed, I would like to share how God has been rebuilding us.

When I was first asked to write for the Change Maker newsletter, I wondered how to begin.
But soon I realized this was a precious opportunity to share what God has been doing within our team.

Over the past few months, the FCM staff community has walked through a deep process with God.
There were seasons of relational brokenness and extreme burnout.
At times, our team felt like a ship lost in a storm, tossed about and drifting in confusion and exhaustion.
We didn’t know what to do, and the pain of exposed wounds felt unbearable.

But by God’s mercy, through the care of our spiritual elders, the journey of healing began.
Each staff member went through personal debriefing sessions, and as we listened to one another’s stories, we began to hear a common cry:

“We don’t really know what FCM is anymore.”
“We’re not sure what we actually learned.”
“We don’t know what we’re supposed to pass on.”

In those honest confessions, God began to show us what He was doing.
We realized that He was calling us to return, to rediscover the true essence of FCM and to reestablish our identity as counseling ministers.

So we reached out to the global FCM network, leaders from Switzerland and Kona, to learn about the DNA, history, and curriculum of FCM.
We also met with graduates who are now serving around the world, and through their stories, we began to hear again the heartbeat of God for this ministry.

Through many conversations and times of prayer, a renewed vision for FCM began to take shape within us.
We came to see that God Himself was rebuilding FCM, not just structurally, but spiritually, from its foundations.

Our first step was to return to the beginning, to the original purpose for which God established FCM.
We began to reaffirm our vision:

“To be reconciled to God, and to help others walk the journey of restoration.”

The theme for our 2025 4th Quarter FCM is “RENEW.”
Based on 2 Corinthians 5:17–18, we believe that God is not only making us new, but also giving us the ministry of reconciliation, to be His instruments of healing wherever He sends us.

Let me share the heart and mission of our renewed FCM:

Foundations – We aim to provide a biblical foundation for Christian counseling.
Our standard is the plumb line of God’s truth.

For – Our knowledge is not for the sake of information, but for the purpose of transformation — to bring the gospel to the lost and to disciple the nations.

Counseling – Counseling is a tool, a means through which students are equipped to share the gospel and bring healing in the process of discipleship.

Ministry – This word means action.
Our desire is for students to apply what they’ve learned and actively participate in God’s work of restoring His Kingdom.

So we, the FCM staff, have renewed our commitment to three key missions:

1️⃣ To help students experience God deeply and restore their identity in Him.
2️⃣ To help them grow in healthy relationships within authentic community.
3️⃣ To equip them to serve as ministers of healing wherever God calls them.

The Foundations for Counseling Ministry School is based on Isaiah 61:1–3, embracing a journey of healing and restoration with God.
Through this process, students are healed by His grace and truth, their identities are restored, and they begin to learn how to build healthy relationships.
This is the start of a lifelong journey of walking with God and sharing the good news of restoration with those they meet.

We believe this is a new beginning for FCM.
And we invite you to walk with us, to share in this vision, and to pray for us as God continues His work of renewal.

Thank you.
