LED Screen Project — Reviving the Heart of Worship

In 2004, Howard Malmstadt Hall was built on the campus of the University of the Nations Jeju.
It became the primary sanctuary—a sacred space where countless people encountered God,
where generations knelt for the nations, and where worship filled the air.
Because of this, people have long called it “the heart of UofN Jeju.”

A Time of Crisis and a New Beginning

Over the past twenty years, the hall has hosted innumerable gatherings, prayers, and ministries.
But time took its toll.
Due to humidity, wind, and aging structure, the ceiling partially collapsed in 2022.
By God’s grace, there were no injuries, but the incident left a deep impact on the community.

Though emergency repairs allowed worship to continue,
a growing question began to stir:

“Shouldn’t we renew the very heart of our worship space?”

The old projector system was dim and unclear,
making it difficult to focus during daytime services.
Everyone agreed change was needed, but there were serious concerns:

“Is this the right time for a major renovation?”
“Can we really afford it?”

The community chose not to rush.
Instead, they waited before God.
And in that waiting, the Lord spoke clearly:

“Don’t just rebuild a space, leave a legacy of faith and obedience for the next generation.”

Journey of Faith

“Let the heart of worship beat again.”
— The Howard Malmstadt Hall LED  Screen Project, UofN Jeju

Thus, the LED Project was born, not just as a technical upgrade, but as a test of faith.
God’s word to the community was:

“This project will not be accomplished by your strength but by faith.”

So UofN Jeju made a bold decision:
to carry out the entire project through 100% donations, and not from the campus budget,
as a testimony of faith to the next generation.

And God opened the way.
A construction company proposed,

“We’ll install the screen first; you can pay as the donations come.”

It was a sign that God was already preparing the way for the work to be done.

In the spring of 2024, the LED screen was finally installed.
When the light first came on, the room fell silent.
A space that had seen decades of worship was reborn—bright, clear, alive again.

“Each time we lead worship now, we feel God inviting the younger generation to encounter Him.
It’s hard to even imagine what the hall looked like before.”
Worship Ministry Staff, UofN Jeju

Beyond the Campus: A Platform for All Generations

The transformation didn’t just improve visuals or acoustics; it revived the spirit of worship.
The atmosphere shifted; young people began responding to God with new passion.
And soon, the change started to spread beyond the campus.

Churches and ministries across Jeju began reaching out to use the hall
for retreats, worship nights, youth camps, and gatherings.
The doors of Howard Malmstadt Hall were opened wide to serve the body of Christ in Jeju.

“There’s no other place in Jeju where you can use such a facility at such a humble cost.
Our youth loved it, and at the end of the retreat,
our staff laid hands on the LED screen and said,
‘You’ve worked hard.’ It truly felt like a co-worker in worship.”
Youth Pastor, Jeju Local Church

The hall is no longer just UofN Jeju’s sanctuary.
It has become a holy platform for the whole island where people of all generations meet together in worship.

The Fruit of Faith and the Journey Ahead

More than 200 donors have already joined this journey of faith,
raising about ₩50 million so far.
Because of their generosity, the hall now radiates with renewed life.

But the journey isn’t finished yet.
Of the total ₩200 million needed, about ₩150 million is still required
to complete remaining payments for the LED installation and to upgrade lighting and sound.

“The LED wasn’t just a technical choice,it was an act of faith.
Through this project, we wanted to show the next generation what obedience looks like.”
Park Sok-gon, Leader of UofN Jeju

A Call to Join the Story

We are seeking 500 Worship Partners who will give ₩20,000 per month for one year
to keep the heart of worship beating for the next generation.

“We remember every name.
You are already part of this story of faith.”

Let’s continue to revive the spirit of worship together.
Let’s pass on the fire of faith to the generations to come.
